New BBC streams

Does this spell the end of listening to the BBC on my WM-202?

Shouldn't be.. try www.radiofeeds.co.uk/fs to add the BBC streams to your radio.

Hi Vinnielo,
The ability to add streams is not the problem. BBC are adopting a new streaming standard (HLS), which cannot be handled by most existing internet radios. The change-over has already happened for some of the on-demand stuff, but not yet for live streams.

From what I can gather from other forums, the new streams will not work at all via the Frontier Silicon platform.

I've been following this debacle for a while now and it just seems to be getting worse. I'm writing to Roberts Radio just to see whether they have any hopes of providing a remedy for us, unfortunately I'm not very optimistic at this time. The attitude of the BBC over these format changes has been unbelievable.

Well the word is that the BBC are cozying up to Apple for a joint venture, so the loss of a few tens of thousands of listeners on older radios such as ours will not keep them awake at night.

I did actually get a reply from Roberts to my question that was specifically related to the BBC "Listen Again" service.
Basically I was told that they are investiagting the implications but it's too early to be able to give any estimate for a resolution. I have been added to the list of people to contact, as and when they get any updates.
If I get anything interesting I'll post the information here.
