Stream 83i

Postby Connie » Tue Jan 21, 2014 8:33 am

In the last couple of days i have not been able to listen to a local station via my roberts 83i stream internet radio i.e. Bright fm 106.4. It has been saying "cannot open selected media".

The software is up to date. Any suggestions?

Have you registered your radio on the Frontier website?

Once you have you can add Bright FM to your list of My Added Stations. The URL to use is http://s3.xrad.io:8094/

Frontier is the service that Roberts radios connect to when browsing internet radio stations. You can create an account on their site and 'pair' your radio - this means you can add your own stations that the radio can't find in the main database and access them through the "My Added Stations" section of your radio's menu.

Once you've registered with Frontier (at www.wifiradio-frontier.com) log in and go to the Add New Station bit. Enter in a name/location/genre of your choice and put the URL as http://s3.xrad.io:8094/ . Click the save button and you'll be able to listen to Bright FM on your radio again.

Tried all types but aac was missing from http://www.wifi-frontier.com link when trying to add station, and aac is the type the station have confirmed they use!

For aac streams use 'MP3' and it will work fine.

I'm surprised too, even if they just change it to say "MP3/AAC" it would avoid some confusion. I've just tried it and I can get Bright FM on my radio now - don't forget if you've preset the station then it won't update automatically... you've got to access the station through the 'My Added Stations' menu. Once it's playing THEN you can overwrite the preset!

Did that same message cannot open selected media. There are other brightfm's - this one is not the christan or kids one. This is the one URL as http://s3.xrad.io:8094/.
