Evoke Flow display

Postby SST » Mon Jun 02, 2014 6:26 pm

I have had my Flow for 5/6 years and really like it but over the last couple of months the display has gotten dimmer and dimmer so much so that I have had to send it away to have the display replaced. Even at the maximum settings the display could hardly be read I have seen other posts about displays failing but never a display that simply faded away just like the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland.

I wonder what a new display is going to cost?

The display on my 6 year old Evoke Flow failed recently. The part was a RiTdisplay 19301 (Taiwan). They don't seem to be making them any more. After a lot of e-mailing I got a message through Alibaba from Bolymin, also in Taiwan, that their BL12864K OLED display was the same as the 19301.
I got the Bolymin version by post from RS Components (Corby, Northamptomshire) for £37.50 all told.
Their stock number for this is 6686124.
It's easy to fit, but should be put in upside down with the ribbon connector folded back downwards.
The radio display had been on 24/7 and gradually decreased in brightness, until the brightness setting reached 10. The OLED display gets used up in time, like projector bulbs. The brightness setting is back down to 2.
The replacement is expensive for what it is, but cheaper than the £70 quoted by Pure plus carriage both ways.
I don't know how SST above gets them for £8.50. Maybe they are salvaged from discarded units.

PINEMARTIN

I spoke to Pure and they gave me the name and contact details of the company in Scotland who repaired my Evoke Flow, see below, a year on and the repair is still good

You paid more for the display than I did for the display and it's fitting!

From Pure
Our Out of Warranty service center, Let Me Repair, they are contactable by phone (01355 593594) or email (puresupport@letmerepair.co.uk), between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday (closed between 12pm and 1pm) and they will be happy to assist.

Had the same problem. However, Let Me Repair told me that they no longer repair Pure radios "for business reasons", but would not elaborate. I fixed the display myself using at the display from a defunct Avanti Flow.
